Singapore

So we arrived in Singapore and downloaded the NY Times "36 hours in Singapore." Although there are many things on the list we probably won't get to, we have been successful in knocking out a few. We're staying in the New Majestic Hotel (on the list), we had a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel (on the list), we stopped by the night market in China Town (on the list), had drinks at Helipad (a bar built on a retired helipad next to the Quay), and we took the subway to the northeast end of town to visit "Little India" where we had lunch (also on the list).
I'm catching up on my posting before we have some dinner and get ready for our 330 AM departure tomorrow (returning to the US). It has been a great trip but I can't wait to get back to the United States. Talk to you all very soon. Love, Aaron (& David).

Thailand

More Phi Phi Island.

Thailand

We took an amazing day trip on a speed boat to Phi Phi Island, one of the most beautiful places in the world. We met some fun friends (Toby, Sharon, & Ashleigh) from Australia. We actually stopped at six islands/beaches in the Phi Phi Island chain, including Phi Phi Don,Phi Phi Leh, Monkey Island, Bamboo Island, and a funky Jamaica-esque spit that I'm sure doesn't exist during high tide but while we were there was filled with locals selling everything from drinks (nearly certain there wasn't a drop of alcohol in them) to ice cream (and what they referred to as "Thai cigarettes" in between).

To say it was beautiful would be an understatement. We even stoppedin a beautiful bay and snorkled in a beautiful coral reef with clownfish, trumpet fish, and number of species I couldn't identify. It was so much fun!

Thailand

The beaches in Phuket were beautiful. We spent our time on Kata & Kata Noi in the Southwest corner of the island and our last day swam at Patong.

Our apartment was beautiful. When we get back to the states we'll
upload a couple of videos we took of it. Here are a few snapshots
including the private rooftop pool.

Thai New Year - We got really wet that day. Couldn't pull out the
camera because we were afraid of getting it wet.

Our hosts at our apartment building gave us these strings of jasmine
to celebrate the new year.

UPDATE: Thailand

UPDATE:  Just to calm the fears of our family and friends . . . although there is civil unrest in Bangkok, David and I are in the far south of the country.  We have seen no sign of difficulties here.  Additionally, we will be departing on Thursday via a regional airline (Malaysian) and NOT flying through Bangkok (we are flying directly from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur and continuing on to Singapore.  So in short, don’t worry, we’re fine and having a great time.

Phuket

We've had a blast already here in Phuket. David and I spent our first
full day on the island at our pool and on the beach. Last night we
met up with some friends from the CEMBA program and took a "tuk-tuk"
to the roudy town of Patong. It was like Mardi Gras at Bourbon Street
on Steroids. We had a great dinner, stumbled into a packed Irish bar
and then found ourselves singing karaoke on the "2th" (we pronounced
it "tooth") floor of a random bar. All I'm saying is that Judy (one
of my CEMBA colleagues) does a mean Fergie. We all had a blast. I
mean, how can you not have fun when the DJ is drinking his whiskey
punch from a bucket? All in all, we made it home in one piece and we
were ready for the beach by 10 am this morning.

We decided to take it easy this evening (David is snoring next to me
as I write this). Tomorrow, I'll post pics of our apartment. Happy
Easter!

Phuket

On our way from Hong Kong to Phuket we flew through Bangkok. The
airport was beautiful; however, our plane from HK had issues with its
cargo doors upon arrival in Thailand. We were forced to travel on
without our bags (they arrived at 930 that night). The picture of me
sitting in the airport is one David took because he wanted to remind
me of "cranky Aaron."
